Hosted by Southern Arkansas University Tech Multimedia

Competition Overview

SAU Tech is home to one of the most highly regarded multimedia technology programs in Arkansas. The students learn in a collaborative environment where film students, graphic designers, and game/simulation creators produce amazing work. We want you at SAU Tech and we want you to begin your journey now by collaborating with your fellow students to enter this multimedia design competition.

The hosts for this competition are seeking the best use of multimedia within an EAST project. Successful proposals will include examples of video elements (iMovie, Premiere, etc.), virtual work creation (Maya, Unity, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, etc.), audio production (Fruity Loops, Audacity, etc.), and graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). Students will also share how each type of technology was used to further the project. Extra consideration will be granted to entrants who incorporate multiple types of multimedia into their projects.

Project examples:

  • The purpose of our project was to assist a local organization with recruiting new members. We created a 3D file of their logo using photoshop and incorporated that into the recruitment video we developed in Maya.
  • We collaborated with a local museum to create a documentary using Adobe Premiere. We also designed posters and flyers in Illustrator that promoted the video, which were distributed to local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Several students in our school struggle with learning general math concepts, so we developed a Virtual World in Maya and Unreal Engine that would engage the learner. The game also included an original audio composition we created in Fruity Loops.

Submission Instructions

The submission deadline is 3 p.m., CST, January 24, 2018.

REMEMBER: DO NOT wait until the last day or the last minute to submit your application. The submission form will automatically disable at 3:01 p.m., CST on the deadline date. If you are in the middle of submitting a form at this time, your submission will NOT be received. Please remember that upload speeds can vary depending on file type, school bandwidth, etc. Deadline days have a high volume of students submitting, which can also cause delays in uploading files and submitting applications. If you encounter an issue on the day of a deadline, the EAST Initiative staff may have limited (if any) availability to provide assistance.
